Computer Based Training

The CBT is a truly interactive, multimedia training experience. A graphic interface makes the CBT both attractive and interesting. The salient features include, beautiful, eye-catching backgrounds, dynamic tri-state buttons, attractive animations and a clear and well-toned voice-over accompanied by soft music. In the process of learning the software using this CBT, animated, flashing indications guide the user throughout the CBT.

On commencing the CBT, the user’s name needs to be entered. This name can then be chosen the next time the CBT is accessed. Individual quiz scores are recorded against user name, accordingly.

The entire CBT has been divided into various Modules, based on the subject of the chapters contained in them. The modules can be randomly accessed, without needing to go serially. Each module displays a list of chapters, provided with links to the Chapter Index screen of each chapter. The Chapter Index screen displays, at a glance, a list of topics and exercises of the specific chapter. The estimated time that should be spent going through a specific chapter is also displayed on this screen. Every chapter is divided into various topics. Complex topics are further divided into subtopics and explained with the help of demos.

A bottom panel allows to move between topics and skip the topic to jump to next or previous chapter.

Every feature in the demo has been explained using sample files that have been supplied on the CD. The demos that explain the topics of the CBT exhibit some special features. The user is expected to click on specific areas of the desktop or press specific keys.This is akin to having a tutor guiding user through the entire procedure of carrying out a particular task using the software. Pressing a wrong key or entering incorrect figure will pause the flow of the CBT. This gives user a hands-on training of the software that he is learning, and the same effect can be applied to the samples provided.

Topic panel works only within a topic. Navigation of the current topic contents can be done using this panel.

An exercise at the end of every chapter analyzes user understanding of the completed chapter. The exercise comprises two types of questions – Multiple Choice and True or False.  The Multiple choice questions offer four options out of which one option has to be chosen for every randomly-asked question. The result is indicated with an accompanying explanation. It works the same way for  the True or False type of questions. Homework is given in the form of an Assignment, accompanied by a hint.
An interactive Left panel helps to navigate across section.

An Index is a direct method of accessing a specific module, chapter or topic. Names of visited topics, in that session appear in a different color in the Index.

A Glossary - has a list of technical words from the CBT that supplies the definition of that word on clicking. Additionally, words are provided with links to related topics

A Help screen provides assistance in browsing through the CBT. On the upper portion of this screen, the various segments of the CBT, for which Help is available are displayed as clickable buttons.

A Quiz at Simple, Moderate and Difficult levels, is  integrated into the CBT. The Progress report displays marks obtained in the quiz. It displays the marks scored in the latest attempt and the previous attempt, if any. It shows the record of score as per login name. The record is maintained through different sessions/days as long as the user logs in under the same name.

The Quiz has three types of questions – Multiple Choice, True or False and Smart Skill Test. The Smart Skill Test is a practical test that asks the user to complete a task in the software. Inability to do the task perfectly, guides the user on the correct method of completing  it, by pressing the show me button. The user looses marks for that question. A task entails one or more clicks. The appropriate options need to be clicked to answer a question correctly.
